Six Chances to Run for a Cause at Atlantic Station this Fall

Atlantic Station to host six charity-based races throughout the season.

ATLANTA, GA – Cooler weather in Atlanta means football, festivals and people waking up early to run with thousands of their closest friends at Atlantic Station. This year, Atlantic Station will host six opportunities to run or walk and support a great cause. For all the non-runners, running isn’t a requirement to be philanthropic—volunteers and sidewalk cheerleaders are always needed! Here’s a list of chances to get active and make a difference this fall:

· Sept. 10 at 8:30 a.m.

DogFest Walk ‘n Roll: The DogFest Walk ‘n Roll Atlanta fundraising event benefitting Canine Companions for Independence, an organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities, will kick off the running season at Atlantic Station. The event welcomes guests of all ages and breeds for a tail-waggin’ good time.

· Sept. 24 at 7:30 a.m.

Race for Research: This 5K race/2K fun-run brings the brain tumor community together. Come celebrate life and share stories at this family oriented, heartfelt event in the Central Park District at Atlantic Station.

· Sept. 17 at 8 a.m.

“Race for Rest” Bed Race and 5K: The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is in the business of giving away beds. On Sept. 17, the beds will have wheels and the occupant will be helmet-clad and costumed. Proceeds from the “Race for Rest” Bed Race and 5K will go toward furthering the Furniture Bank’s mission of providing furniture to people in need.

· Oct. 15 at 8 a.m.

‘Race for the Dream’ 5K: The inaugural Race for the Dream is designed to bring the community and REALTORS® together for an important cause, to promote homeownership through Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. The Race for the Dream will start and finish at Atlantic Station’s Central Park and is a family friendly event with something for all levels ranging from 5K, 1K, and the Tot Trot for youth 10 and under.

· Oct. 16 at 9 a.m.

Atlanta Humane Society’s 5K Walk for Animals: Join the Atlanta Humane Society along with thousands of animal lovers and their dogs, and walk for a great cause! The “5K Walk for the Animals - Saving & Celebrating Georgia's Pets” is Atlanta Humane Society's largest fundraising event. All net proceeds will help save the lives of Atlanta's homeless animals.

· Oct. 23 at 7:30 a.m.

PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and Atlanta 5K: The PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and Atlanta 5K is one of Atlanta Track Club's premiere events and is equal parts challenge and enjoyable. Non-profits cheer runners on at every mile on this unique course that starts and ends at Atlantic Station.

“Each of the events benefit a worthy cause,” said Daniel Easton, Director of Marketing at Atlantic Station. “We look forward to welcoming hundreds of runners, walkers and volunteers over the next several months. Come out, enjoy the cool weather, and help us support these deserving charities!”
