Isolated Storms, Gusty Winds Could Last For Days In Metro Atlanta, NWS Says
"In Georgia, it doesn't take severe wind gusts to knock down a tree," the NWS told Patch, predicting possible strong winds with the storms.
ATLANTA, GA — Storms will bring April to a close in Georgia, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.
The wet pattern continues this week with the possibility of a few isolated thunderstorms in metro Atlanta and surrounding areas.
On Monday afternoon, a detailed forecast by the NWS showed partly sunny weather for Tuesday; but, a hazardous weather outlook showed isolated thunderstorms could be on the rise in metro Atlanta and other areas.

NWS meteorologist Dylan Lusk on Monday told Patch that while no widespread severe weather is expected, strong gusty winds could travel at a speed of 30-40 mph.
"In Georgia, it doesn't take severe wind gusts to knock down a tree," he said.

In line with summertime storms, the rain could last from 30-45 minutes amid hot temperatures, Lusk said. Even then, he added the weather should be "nothing too wild."
The pattern is anticipated the remainder of the week with Friday expected to produce the most organized system in coming days. As of Monday, there was a 60 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms on Friday.
With May starting Thursday, Lusk said weather in the the upcoming month could potentially mirror that of April though he could not definitively confirm this to be true as it is too far to tell.
He did forecast that Georgia may receive a reprieve from the rain next week with drier weather on the horizon.
While neighboring Florida is facing a drought and wildfires, Lusk said the "heart of the metro" in Fulton County) and the Eastside of the metro are following their normal dry behavior for this time of the year.
Though rainfall has been constant in Georgia in April, Lusk warned the weather "could be wetter."
"It's not too, too exciting in the weather realm, and we like that," he said.
