Strong Thunderstorms Moving Over Metro Atlanta
The storms are expected to affect northwestern DeKalb County and central Fulton County, according to the National Weather Service.
ATLANTA, GA — A strong thunderstorm will impact the Atlanta metro through 4:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
At 4:09 p.m., the thunderstorm was located at Atlantic Station moving northeast at 15 mph, according to forecasters. The storm is expected to impact northwestern DeKalb County and central Fulton County.
The greatest risks associated with the storm are winds of 40 to 50 mph, pea sized hail and frequent lightning, according to a special weather statement issued by the NWS.

Minor damage to tree limbs is expected.
The agency warned that anyone outdoors should seek shelter immediately.

"If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning," the NWS cautioned.
