Teen Accused Of Attempted Car Theft Shot In East Atlanta

Two additional suspects in the attempted car theft are at large, police said.

EAST ATLANTA, GA — A 17-year-old boy accused of breaking into a car and trying to steal it Tuesday morning near River Mill Lane was shot, DeKalb County Police said.

Police accused the boy and two other people of breaking into the car around 9 a.m., when the homeowner confronted them.

The teen was shot during a confrontation with the homeowner, police said. It is unknown who shot the boy.

The two people with the teen ran away from the scene, police said. The teen suffered an injury that was not life threatening and was taken to a local hospital, police said.

Detectives investigating the case were speaking with the homeowner, police said early Tuesday afternoon.
