Trump Appeals Willis Ruling In Georgia Election Case: Reports

ATLANTA, GA — Former President Donald Trump and eight of his co-defendants have filed an appeal of a judge's ruling allowing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to remain as the prosecutor on the case where he's accused of trying to interfere with Georgia's 2020 election, according to reports.

Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee earlier in March ruled Willis, who has a romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, could remain on the case as long as Wade resigned, an Associated Press report on the appeal said.

Trump's attorneys on Friday asked Georgia Court of Appeals to overturn the ruling, asking the appellate court to disqualify the entire Fulton County DA’s office, CNN reported.

"DA Willis has covered herself and her office in scandal and disrepute, as she has squandered her credibility and repeatedly and flagrantly violated the heightened ethical standards demanded of her position," CNN said the appeal states.

Trump and his co-defendants are accused of trying to interfere with and reverse the results of in the 2020 election in Georgia, and have been charged under Georgia's racketeering statute.

McAfee, in ruling Willis could stay on the case, said "Georgia law does not permit the finding of an actual conflict for simply making bad choices – even repeatedly," but said she was "encumbered by an appearance of impropriety."

The district attorney’s office declined to comment, CNN said.
