- According to Atlanta police, two people were killed in a car accident on Campbellton Road on Saturday; one was a 10-year-old girl. The single-car accident killed 33-year-old Nicholas Jeffries and Janyla Henderson and injured multiple other people. The driver fled the scene; as of Monday, the suspect had not been identified or arrested by police. (WSB Atlanta)
- After nearly 50 years of business, Kroger, more commonly called "Disco Kroger," on Piedmont Road in Atlanta, is closing shop. The grocery store's lease is up in 2023, and it decided not to renew due to redevelopment in the area. The real estate agent promised to keep the iconic disco ball and mural, which commemorates the disco and nightclub that used to be next door. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- A new partnership in Atlanta between the Georgia Aquarium, Georgia Tech, and the nonprofit Ocean Visions is leading ocean-based climate solutions to mitigate and reverse the effects of climate change. The center named Ocean Visions-U.N. Decade Collaborative Center for Ocean-Climate Solutions will examine ocean-based renewable energy technologies and viable fisheries and aquaculture to create low-carbon food. (GPB News)
- According to Atlanta Chief of Staff Odie Donald II, the local option sales tax (LOST) granted Atlanta $1.4 billion over 10 years. The city received $1 billion over the past decade from LOST, and $400,000 will be given next year due to inflation costs. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- An illicit drug transaction went south when two men got into an argument that ended in a shooting, according to Atlanta police. Both men reportedly shot at each other and ended up in the hospital in stable condition. Authorities are investigating the incident. (Atlanta Patch)
