UPS To Bring 1.2K of Jobs to Atlanta: Officials

Mayor Kasim Reed and Gov. Nathan Deal announced last week that UPS will create 1,250 jobs and invest more than $400 million in a regional hub in Atlanta. The new sorting and distribution hub will open by the end of 2018, the officials said. UPS will create supervision, administrative and warehouse positions at the site. >>> Read more.

TSPLOST: Fulton Leaders Prepare For Next Steps

The Nov. 8 general election resulted in the approval of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales tax for transportation projects in cities outside of Atlanta. The referendum passed 53 to 47 percent, or 125,463 to 112,578 votes. Collections on the 75-cent sales tax will start in April 2017 and end March 2022, and is expected to generate about $570 million in transportation investments. >>> Read more.

Mark Zuckerberg: Don't Blame Facebook for Donald Trump's Win

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is firing back at critics who blame the social media site's tendency to promote fake news stories for the election of Donald Trump. "Personally I think the idea that fake news on Facebook, which is a very small amount of the content, influenced the election in any way is a pretty crazy idea," he said at a tech conference in Moon Bay, California, on Thursday night. >>> Read more.
