Winter Storm Warning In Effect Until Noon Monday For NE GA

Metro Atlanta is in the clear, but Monday will be rainy and cold, with rain returning toward the end of the work week.

PEACHTREE CITY, GA -- A winter storm warning is in effect until noon on Monday for portions of northeast Georgia, after snow made for an early white Christmas for some extreme north Georgia counties. Freezing temperatures on Sunday night had the potential to refreeze some wet roads throughout north Georgia, creating hazardous driving conditions. The warning was in effect for Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Hall and Banks counties until Sunday night, but the warning Rabun and Habersham counties has been extended until Monday.

In metro Atlanta, conditions for Monday's Atlanta United victory parade are expected to be wet and cold, with National Weather Service forecasters calling for a 50 percent chance of rain and a high near 43.

Some north Georgia counties were already either cancelling school on Monday or delaying operations. As of 11 pm Sunday. Pickens, Habersham and Rabun counties had cancelled school.
