Woman Tries To Snatch Two Kids From Parents At Atlanta Airport

An Atlanta family was traveling to Disney World when the unthinkable happened: a woman tried to kidnap two of their children.

ATLANTA - A woman was arrested Sunday morning at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport after she attempted to kidnap two children, an incident which was caught on surveillance video. Police said Esther Daniels, 26, tried to snatch a stroller with a child in it. When the child's mother jumped in, police said Daniels tried to grab one of the family's other children. The family's father then intervened.

An Atlanta police traffic control officer then rushed over to break up the melee and help detain Daniels. The video, which has been released by Atlanta police, shows a hysterical Daniels being restrained and then taken away.

The metro Atlanta family was on their way to Disney World, police said, when the attack happened around 5 am.

APD Spokeswoman Tashena Brown praised the officer's actions. “She deserves all the praise,” Brown told WSB-TV. “Especially for her to have been working, really, in a civilian capacity, for her to just to jump in right away with no hesitation is amazing."

Daniels is being held in a Clayton County jail on charges of kidnapping and obstructing an officer. She is set for a July 11 preliminary hearing.
