  1. The Downtown Health Science Campus at Augusta University experienced a gas leak. The significant leak was caused after a vehicle hit a gas meter. Several buildings in the area have been affected, including the research corridor facilities. (The Augusta Press)
  2. A new bill has been proposed by Senators Jeff Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to authorize the construction of a child development center in nearby Fort Gordon. Bill S. 1623 follows a bipartisan push to allocate $21 million for the project, which will be set to expire at the end of the fiscal year. The new legislation would allow the U.S. Army the ability to continue working on the project through October 2024. (The Augusta Chronicle)
  3. To commemorate Memorial Day, the Augusta community is honoring the service of 11 African American veterans by decorating their tombstones with medallions and flags. Previously, these veterans' final resting places were not appropriately recognized. However, members of the Augusta community took it upon themselves to rectify this oversight and pay tribute to these deserving individuals. (WRDW)
