
DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis is seeking nominations for the 2nd Annual CEOβs Community Hero Awards, which honors individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in DeKalb County. Nomination forms, available online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov, must be received by Friday, March 18.
Nominations are being accepted for the following award categories:Β
- Community Service Award β recognizes an individual and an organization whose work has had a positive impact on strengthening communities and improving the lives of others in DeKalb County.
- Environmental Change Award β recognizes an individual or organization that works tirelessly to preserve, protect and raise awareness about the environment.
- Youth Volunteer Award β recognizes the outstanding efforts of a DeKalb County high school youth or youth organization that exemplifies volunteerism and community service.
- Neighborhood Empowerment Award β recognizes an individual or organization that fosters civic engagement and promotes community involvement.
- The Vanguard Award β recognizes an individual or organization whose contributions most exemplify the National County Government Month theme as established by NACo each year. The 2011 theme is "Serving Our Veterans, Armed Forces and Their Families."
The CEOβs Community Hero Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, 980 Briarcliff Rd. in Atlanta.
