Brookhaven Senior Named National Merit Scholar
Sixty-one Georgia seniors were named National Merit Scholars, including one Brookhaven graduate.
BROOKHAVEN, GA -- A Marist School graduate has been selected as a National Merit Scholar, Patch has learned. Jacob Read is one of 61 Georgians selected for the prestigious award, which provides up to $2,000 annually for four years toward an undergraduate degree at an institution of higher learning.
Jacob won't be too far from Brookhaven when he attends college: Athens is xx miles away. Jacob's scholarship has been underwritten by the University of Georgia. Nationally, 182 universities in 44 states have agreed to underwrite Merit Scholarship awards, which honor individual academic achievement and potential for collegiate success. In Georgia, 18 institutions, including Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Furman and George Washington universities, will back scores of students.
