Brookhaven Launches Open Records Request Web Portal
New web portal allows Brookhaven residents to request open records pertaining to police matters and other city business.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Brookhaven recently launched a new web portal has puts access to public records at the fingertips of its residents hands, the city announced Monday. The βJustFOIAβ portal, which will be run by
the Brookhaven City Clerkβs Office, allows users to fill out an automated form online to make requests.
The new portal can be accessed on any electronic device that has the internet, such as a smartphone, tablet or PC. Residents can also request open records pertaining to law enforcement matters. The move is part of an effort for greater transparency by city government. In the old days, the city clerk's staff had to manually handle cases, but the city is now obliged to take advantage of new technology.

βMembers of the public can now request open records at their convenience with a computer, smart phone, or tablet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,β said Brookhaven City Clerk Susan Hiott.
Once users make a request, they will receive an email confirmation and notifications on the progress of the documents. The usual fees will still be applicable, but there will be no additional cost, the city said.
