Brookhaven Names New Deputy Police Chief
Brandon Gurley has been with Brookhaven police since 2013, and previously worked in Sandy Springs and Paulding County.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- After a nationwide search and a citizen panel's review, Brookhaven has a new deputy police chief, and he was promoted from within. Chief Gary Yandura announced the decision to promote Brandon Gurley as Brookhavenβs deputy chief at the Brookhaven City Council meeting, followed by an official pinning ceremony.
A professional firm of Morris B. McDaniel was engaged to conduct a leadership assessment after a nationwide search was conducted. The four finalists for the position were vetted by a citizen panel of residents and subject matter experts, including:
- Assistant Chief Debbie Burnett, Rome Police Department
- Chief John King, Doraville Police Department
- Kim Gokce, Cross Keys Foundation
- Dr. LaShawn McMillan, Ashford Park Elementary School principal
Prior to joining the Brookhaven Police Department in April 2013, Gurley was an officer in the Sandy Springs police department and 13 years in various positions in the Paulding County sheriffβs office.
