The parks and recreation director was accused of trying to meet a 14-year-old girl Tuesday in Cobb County, a media report says.

Patrick Nalley, director of Brookhaven's Parks and Recreation Department, was arrested while driving a city-owned vehicle near Marietta, city officials said in a news release. He was immediately fired from the city.
City officials said Nalley arrived at a meeting location, expected to meet the girl but instead met with an undercover officer during business hours.

According to Cobb County Jail records, Nalley is being charged on suspicion of enticing a child and obscene internet contact with a child.
He was with the City of Brookhaven for about three months, after moving from Virginia to fill the role of parks and rec director. The city said no other allegations or issues have come up during his tenure.
"Nalley cleared several separate background checks, had no prior criminal record and
had solid credit and driving records," officials said in the release.
He was previously the director of recreation and parks for Henrico County, Virginia, and also served as a recreational director in Amherst County, Viriginia.
"Although we understand the presumption of innocence, we are acting out of an abundance of caution, as our parks and recreation facilities often have hundreds of children and teens recreating or competing in team sports activities during any given summer day," Brookhaven City Manager Christian Sigman said in the release. "The safety and comfort of our residents and guests and their families are always our top priority in Brookhaven."
