Dump Truck Driver Arrested In Brookhaven Fatal Pedestrian Crash

The accused dump truck driver fled the scene but returned about 20 minutes after police say he hit and killed a pedestrian in Brookhaven.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — A 54-year-old dump truck driver is facing vehicular homicide charges in connection with a crash that killed a 20-year-old woman, Brookhaven Police said Wednesday.

Police said the deadly crash happened around noon Tuesday at Clairmont Road and Dresden Drive. The woman killed in the crash was not identified.

Omar Ali, of Mableton, was accused of fleeing the scene after hitting the woman, who police said legally entered the crosswalk. Ali was turning right onto Clairmont at the time, police said.
