Brookhaven Police Blotter: Disorderly Conduct, Attempted Robbery

Stolen vehicles, thefts and a wanted person located were just some of Brookhaven police's activities over the last week.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- During the week of March 18-24, Brookhaven police responded to 1,455 calls which included 126 incident reports, 117 citations, and 27 arrests. Here is a sampling of some of those calls:

Sunday, March 24 – Stolen vehicle recovered, I-85 & N. Druid Hills Road. Officers received a
license plate reader alert of a stolen black Mercedes-Benz G Series IL from Hollywood,
Florida. The vehicle was located and confirmed stolen. The suspect was apprehended, and the vehicle was impounded until the owner can retrieve it.

Saturday, March 23 – Stolen vehicle recovered, 1700 block of Briarwood Road. Officers received
an alert of a stolen vehicle in the area of Briarwood Road and Buford Highway. Using this
information, police located the gray Chevrolet Blazer in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was
unsecured and unoccupied. It was confirmed stolen by Gwinnett County police and the vehicle was towed.

Friday, March 22 – Disorderly conduct, 5100 block of Blair Circle: A woman was beating on
several doors in the early morning hours while drunk. She was apprehended for disorderly
conduct.

Thursday, March 21 – Wanted person located, 3200 Buford Highway. Officers stopped with a
stranded motorist whose car was blocking the roadway. The officer assisted the driver with
getting gas and jumping off the vehicle to get it moved with no luck. The officer called for a
wrecker and the driver became verbally confrontational. Due to the vehicle having to be
impounded the driver was checked and returned with a valid warrant through Snellville for failure to appear. The driver was taken into custody, transported to Snellville and transferred to a Snellville officer.

Wednesday, March 20 – Attempted robbery, 3700 Buford Highway. While conducting an unrelated
investigation nearby, officers were approached by a male subject who said he was the victim
of an attempted robbery at a nearby bar. The victim said he was walking to his vehicle parked
on the south side of the building when he was jumped by three males who tried to take his
wallet from his pocket. The victim fought back and one of them struck him in the head, leaving
him with a 3-4 inch laceration on the top of his head. The victim fought them off and ran to his
car, fleeing the scene. The subjects fled south on Buford Highway.

Tuesday, March 19 – Shoplifting, 3900 block of Peachtree Road. A store employee said
she observed the suspect remove a container of Warming Jelly Lubricant from the shelf, with a
price of $10.49. When she confronted the suspect and asked if he needed help, she noticed
when he walked by the item was in his plastic bag. The suspect entered the bathroom, where
he was located by officers. During a search of the suspect`s fanny pack, officers located the
Warming Jelly inside. The suspect was handcuffed and transported to the DeKalb jail.

Monday, March 18 – Theft of auto attempt, 4200 block of Peachtree Road. Five males were loitering at a gas station. The victim said she was pumping gas when a male jumped in the vehicle and attempted to drive off. The victim ran to the driver’s side and began trying to get him out of the car. The male left the vehicle because he couldn’t get it into drive. A purse and wallet were in the vehicle, but nothing was stolen. The driver then left the gas station and was stopped by police nearby. The victim stated she was in a hurry because she had a very important event to go to that night. She asked that EMS be cancelled because she had no time to wait. She also said she was too busy to file a police report, but agreed to do so. The victim did have scrapes on her hands and legs from falling during the incident. A witness posted which way the suspect fled on Nextdoor. This information was relayed to police later.

Monday, March 18 – Theft, 1000 block of Barone Avenue. The victim said the theft of his
luggage was on video in the leasing office. The video was viewed, and the offenders were
identified as staying at the building in apartment 1532. The offenders were located and admitted
to having the stolen items. The offenders were arrested for the theft.
