Brookhaven Police Blotter: Terroristic Threats, Hit And Run

Here's a brief look at some recent cases and incidents involving Brookhaven finest from Feb. 18-24, 2019.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- Here's a look into some recent cases, incidents and responses by Brookhaven police from Feb. 18-24, 2019.

Mon. Feb. 18. Wanted Person Located, 2200 Block of N Druid Hills Road. An officer responded to a call on a disorderly person. A male was upset with the staff over the gaming machines in the store. A background check of the male revealed an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He was taken to the DeKalb jail.

Wed. Feb. 20. Stolen Vehicle, 2800 Block of Clairmont Road. The complainant left his vehicle running and unsecured while he went into the store. Unknown person(s) drove off with the vehicle heading southbound on I-85. The vehicle has been placed on GCIC as stolen.

Thurs. Feb. 21. Terroristic Threats, 3400 Block of Buford Highway. Officers responded to a call about disorderly juvenile’s smoking drugs and drinking alcohol. One of the suspects threatened to kill the maintenance man, then fled from officers who were attempting to stop the suspects. Four suspects were located by officers, (three adults and one juvenile). The adults were transported to DeKalb County Jail on a variety of charges.

Thurs. Feb. 21. Traffic Offense, 3300 Block of Buford Highway. An officer conducted a traffic stop and cited and released the driver for operating without a valid driver’s license (1st offense). The driver was instructed to wait for a licensed driver to retrieve the vehicle where it was secured. The officer then observed the vehicle heading north on Buford Highway a few minutes later operated by the same driver. He was taken into custody and transported to DeKalb jail.

Fri. Feb. 22. Hit and Run, N. Cliff Valley Way/Buford Highway. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of N. Cliff Valley Way and Buford Highway in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, officers were told that the at-fault driver had fled the scene on foot. After a search of the area, the driver was located in the 1300 Block of N. Cliff Valley Way. The driver was impaired and transported to Grady Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the accident. He was issued citations for DUI, hit and run, no license and failure to obey a traffic control.

Fri. Feb. 22. Larceny, 4000 Block of Peachtree Road. Officers responded to a call regarding a theft at a retail store. One of the clerks was discovered conducting fraudulent refunds using his own debit card. A total of four fraudulent refunds were conducted between 02/14 and 02/21. All transactions were caught on video. The clerk was confronted and admitted the thefts. The clerk was arrested and taken to DeKalb County Jail.

Sat. Feb. 23. Stolen Auto/Stolen Property, 2900 Block of Clairmont Road. The victim reported meeting a female the prior evening, secured a hotel room, and met with the same female back at the hotel. After spending time in the hotel room, the victim gave her $200 for a male friend who brought her to the location. He hid his wallet in the hotel room; however, when he woke up his car keys and phone were gone. His vehicle, a 2015 Kia Optima, was also gone. The victim was able to provide information to identify a suspect who also has outstanding warrants in Hall County, GA and St. Augustine, FL.

During the week of Feb. 18-24, police answered 2,081 calls for service. This includes 127 incident reports, 107 citations and 33 arrests.
