Brookhaven Police Shooting: 3 Arrested, Suspect At Large

No one was injured Tuesday morning after a stolen vehicle was found in Brookhaven, and a chase of the vehicle led to a police shooting.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — The Tuesday morning police chase of a stolen vehicle ended with three people getting arrested, the stolen vehicle catching fire and a police officer discharging his gun, Brookhaven Police said.

A license plate reader notified police around 3:45 a.m. that a stolen vehicle had entered Brookhaven, leading police to locate the vehicle. Police said the vehicle immediately fled the scene, prompting a police chase.

The driver of the vehicle lost control near the Buford Highway and North Druid Hills Road intersection and almost immediately caught fire after coming to a rest, police said.

The four people inside of the vehicle then ran from the officers that were chasing them, and in doing so, one of the people was accused of brandishing a handgun and running with it.

Police said the person then turned with the handgun to face an officer, after which the officer shot his gun. The person then dropped the handgun and was taken into custody, police said.

Two more people from the vehicle were arrested; however, a fourth person remains at large, police said. No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

Police said Kenny Redding was charged on suspicion of aggravated assault and obstruction, Dwoskin Wright was charged on suspicion of theft by receiving and Michael Briddy was charged on suspicion of obstruction. All three people are from Atlanta.
