Every startup begins with a spark. First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is now accepting applications for the 2026 cohort of its Epiphany program, a faith-based social entrepreneurship incubator supporting startups tackling today’s most pressing challenges. Epiphany is an evergreen initiative that equips entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to social issues with funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance. If you are an emerging founder with a vision to address societal challenges often overlooked by traditional markets, Epiphany offers the resources needed to help your venture grow. Examples of qualifying ventures include businesses that employ formerly incarcerated individuals or adults with developmental challenges, as well as enterprises offering services such as coding training for refugees or mechanical skills development in low-income communities. Since its launch, Epiphany has awarded nearly half a million dollars in grants and supported multiple successful ventures, including Refuge Coffee Co., PadSplit, and Purposeful Gourmet Foods. Modeled in part after the format of Shark Tank, the program provides early-stage entrepreneurs with capital, mentorship, and access to a network focused on impact areas such as hunger, homelessness, housing, refugee resettlement, racial equity, poverty, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. Citizens can use the <a href="http://www.house.ga.gov/communications/en-US/HouseLegislativeNetworkBroadcast.aspx" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">House Legislative Network</a>  view the House Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting through a live video stream online. Although the proceedings are slightly delayed due to the buffering or the time it takes for a computer to compensate for differences in the rate of flow of data between operating systems, the entire meeting is streamed real time and available by visiting the online network on the Georgia House of Representatives website. The House Governmental Affairs Committee <a href="http://www.house.ga.gov/Streaming/en-US/Channel/Georgia3" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">will hear the testimony</a> of proponents and those opposed to <a href="http://www1.legis.ga.gov/legis/2011_12/sum/hb636.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">HB 636</a> - the bill introduced by State Rep. Mike Jacobs to create a charter for the proposed City of Brookhaven. Last week, Jacbos created by the Carl Vinson Institute. Today at 3 p.m., the committee convenes again at the State Capitol in room 341 where members of the public will have an opportunity to testify before the committee. Those wishing to speak must sign in are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes early for any direction from the staff. The committee chairman determines how much time to give for testimony before the meeting.
