Two Arrested in Chamblee Walmart Kidnapping

Chamblee Police are handling the investigation of a kidnapping case that resulted in an overnight Sandy Springs SWAT standoff.

OUTSIDE ATLANTA, GA – Police released the names of two men arrested in connection with a Monday night kidnapping that started at Walmart in Chamblee and ended in a SWAT standoff at a nearby apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

James Alexander, 28, of Atlanta was charged with family violence battery and kidnapping, and his friend, Steven Glass, was also charged with kidnapping, said Sgt. Ernesto Ford of Chamblee police.

Security video shows Glass was watching the victim and her friend in the Chamblee Walmart on Chamblee Tucker Road at around 10 p.m. when the two women left the store, Ford said. When the two women approached their car in the parking lot, Alexander's ex-girlfriend was grabbed and beaten inside the car until she was unconscious. The victim's friend managed to escape, Ford said.
