Community Asks for Support for Thompson Road Traffic Calming

Deadline for signatures on the petition is this Friday.

 

The 90-day window to collect signatures for the is winding down and proponents of the measure are putting forth a final plea to gather more names.

The petition is short the requisite 65 percent of signatures needed to to secure the six speed humps they are requesting from the county. The neighborhood has until Friday, Dec. 30 to get the support needed.

Eligible residents are home owners that live on:

  •     Thompson Rd.
  •     Milowyn Pl.
  •     Alta Vista Dr.
  •     Grant Dr (between Thompson and Alta Vista only)
  •     Bates Court
  •     Fearn Circle
  •     Poplar Springs Dr.

DeKalb County's board of commissioners gave their approval to place six speed humps in the Brookhaven neighborhood in September along Thompson Road whch is bordered by Dresden Drive on one end and Drew Valley Road on the other. The county installed several speed humps along Drew Valley earlier this year.

Supporters say the devices are necessary for the safety of pedestrians and those walking along the roads with strollers and pet.
