Few outages in Brookhaven after Thunderstorms

Georgia Power is working to restore power for more than 130,000 customers statewide, and nearly 700 residents near Brookhaven in the 30341 zip code, officials said this morning.

Carol Boatright, spokesperson for the agency said Brookhaven customers in the 30319 zip code were unscathed by the outages followed by last night's severe thunderstorms. The storm, Boatright said effected more than 216,000 customers in Georgia and 28,000 in Metro Atlanta.

Brookhaven may have experienced some outages last night she said, but "if they have, those outages have been restored." She said there is no estimated restoration time.

Jonesboro, Tucker and Decatur have been the hardest hit, Boatright said.
