GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting In DeKalb County

Two DeKalb County​ motorcycle officer​s shot a man during a traffic stop Wednesday in the parking lot of an Office Depot.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA –– Two DeKalb County motorcycle officers shot a man during a traffic stop Wednesday in the parking lot of an Office Depot located at 5064Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA.

Jamarri Danez Williams, 28, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition andremains in the hospital. No officers were injured during the incident.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) to investigate the shooting. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 2:02 p.m., a DKPD motorcycle officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle. A second motorcycle officer also responded to assist with the traffic stop.

During the encounter, the driver, identified as Williams, produced a handgun. Both officers discharged their weapons during the incident, shooting Williams.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, the
case will be provided to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
