Injured Construction Worker Rescued by Crane Near Perimeter Mall

Man was injured on seventh floor of building under construction and unable to get down.

DUNWOODY, GA — An injured construction worker was rescued Monday from the seventh floor of a building under construction by a crane operator working with DeKalb first responders.

The DeKalb County Fire and Rescue told WXIA that the worker couldn't make it down the temporary stairs at the construction site on Lake Hearn Drive near Perimeter Mall and St. Joseph's Hospital.

The worker suffered undisclosed serious injuries, but was expected to recover, according to WXIA, which also has photos from the scene.

There were 4,600 construction injuries in Georgia in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
