OU's Amazing Race for Alcohol Awareness
More than 60 Oglethorpe University students participated in the event.

Friday afternoon, more than three dozen students raced through campus in teams of four to help raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol.
Like the hit CBS TV show, "The Amazing Race", students sprinted through campus attempting o avoid a series of “roadblocks” and “detours” on their way to the finish line.
According to Oglethorpe University's blog, the event was sponsored by the student volunteers of OU Safety. The blog said, "OU Safety put a different spin on alcohol education by featuring team contests such as ’SOBER’ (that works like the basketball shoot-around game ‘HORSE’) and a 400-meter three-person, five-legged race. Racers were warned to choose their participants wisely because it wasn’t all about who could run the fastest, jump the highest, or throw the farthest. Some challenges, like trivia stops, were pure exercise for the brain."

The first team to cross the finish line was made up of the school's star athletes: Todd Ward, Branden Jovaag, Christian Molinet, and Joe Kennedy of the Men’s Basketball team. They each won a $100 gift card to use anywhere VISA will take them.
