Person Struck By Train In Chamblee On Easter Morning

According to Norfolk Southern, the person was standing on the railroad tracks when struck.

CHAMBLEE, GA -- A person was struck and killed on a railroad track Easter morning. According to police, the victim was found on the Norfolk Southern train tracks behind the area of 4945 Peachtree Road. The victim was dead on the scene when police arrived.

The person’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified. Police are still investigating.

According to Norfolk Southern, the person was standing on the tracks around 8:30 am when the incident happened. The railroad said the crew sounded the train's horns. The train was headed to Linwood, North Carolina.

"Norfolk Southern reminds the public that it is extremely dangerous, and also trespassing, to walk on or within the right-of-way of railroad tracks," the train company said. "People should cross tracks only at designated crossings and use extreme caution at all times."
