Volunteers Needed For Peachtree Creek Greenway Cleanup
The first phase of the Peachtree Creek Greenway is nearing completion, and volunteers are needed for a cleanup event on Sept. 14.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — The first phase of the Peachtree Creek Greenway is nearing completion, and the city needs volunteers for an upcoming cleanup. As part of the Cowart Family YMCA’s days of service program, a volunteer clean-up day, on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, will be held on the stretch of trailway between Briarwood and North Druid Hills.
Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in cleaning up creek banks and debris out of the shallow Peachtree Creek that flows alongside the mile-long first phase of Brookhaven’s portion of the paved trail. The YMCA will not only provide all the supplies necessary including waders, gloves, trash bags, etc., but also water and snacks for the volunteers.
“Public ventures such as this always depend on civic partnerships and it’s a great opportunity for residents who want to help make a difference in our community,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst. “Not only will the greenway have an important impact on the city, but across Atlanta as well. As we build the PCG, we will be working with five adjacent cities to not only complete the project but to help clean the entire 12 miles of trailway and nearby waterways.”
