APD Training Materials Offensive to LGBTQ Community
The slides are outdated, police say, and are being modified with the help of the department's ambassadors to that community.

Members of Atlanta’s LGBTQ community are hoping the Atlanta Police Department updates its training materials to remove homophobic information.
The training materials, acquired by WSB-TV, call sodomy an “unnatural sex act” punishable by up to 20 years in prison and refer to transgender people as living with a “disturbance of gender identity.” LGBTQ community members say the materials are offensive to them.
Police say that the materials were written in compliance with now-outdated state law, and add that they will ask their LGBT liaison officers to work with the LGBTQ community to produce more inclusive and welcoming language in the material given to new officers.
