Flood Watch Extended Through Thursday

Forecasters predict an additional two inches of rain could fall in the metro area on Wednesday and worsen flood conditions.

The National Weather Service has extended its flood watch for northern and central Georgia through Thursday morning, citing the threat of more rain Wednesday.

The watch, issued at 9:30 a.m., says that Tuesday will remain mostly rain-free but adds that showers and some thunderstorms will re-develop after midnight before the rain finally goes away late Wednesday.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for an additional one to two inches of rain for north and central Georgia, which will likely worsen existing flooding and create new flooding situations. Urban streets may also flood due to poor drainage and clogged storm drains, the NWS says.
