Uber Passenger Allegedly Beaten by Driver

The passenger told Atlanta police the Uber driver drove to the wrong destination, beat him unconscious, then threw him down a drain pipe.

BUCKHEAD, GA -- Atlanta police are investigating allegations made by a man who said his Uber driver beat him unconscious after picking him up from a Buckhead bar Sunday.

The victim told police the driver picked him up on Irby Avenue after he left Churchill’s Pub about 2:45 a.m., a police report says. The driver allegedly changed course and took the victim to the 3400 block of Peachtree Road.

In the report, the victim said he was pulled from the car, beaten unconscious, and then thrown down a nine foot drain pipe. He told officers whoever beat him up stole his iPhone 6, $250 in cash, and his Wells Fargo bank card.

The victim woke up two hours later and began screaming for help, according to the report. A nearby security guard or off-duty police officer heard his cries and called 911.

He was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with a laceration to the face, a swollen eye; bruise marks all over his body and a bruised right knee, the report states.

Police are investigating the victim’s Uber account to try to locate the driver.
