Man Critically Injured In Bartow Police Shooting
Authorities said the man had shot at employees in a Calhoun business before leading police on a chase and shooting at officers.
ADAIRSVILLE, GA — An Adairsville man was critically injured Tuesday after a police chase led to a shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.
In a news release, the GBI said local and state authorities received around 1:45 p.m. an active shooter be-on-the-lookout alert for a blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
The driver of the truck was identified by the GBI as a 43-year-old Calhoun man. The GBI said the man had shot at employees inside of a Calhoun business early Tuesday then drove to Adairsville.

The Adairsville Police Department, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol saw the truck and began to chase the man.
The GBI said the man began shooting at officers during the police chase before crashing into a Basic Ready Mix cement mixer on Highway 140 near Interstate 75. His truck uncontrollably landed in a vacant lot next to a gas station.

The man was accused of then shooting at officers. The GBI said the officers shot back and critically injured the man. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
No officers were injured in the shooting. Potential charges are unknown. The GBI is leading the probe into the shooting.
"Once complete, the case file will be given to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for review. Per the district attorney’s office, no body camera or dash camera footage will be released until this case is adjudicated," the GBI said in the release.
