Bartow Sheriff Sgt. Awarded For Issuing Over 1,000 Citations

The sheriff's office said he issued over 1,000 citation for a combination of impaired driving and speeding offenses.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — A sergeant with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was awarded for issuing over 1,000 citations for impaired driving and speeding, according to the office's Facebook page.

Members of the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) units from northwest and northeast Georgia attended the banquet ceremony at the Gainesville Police Department, where Sgt. Matt Pifer received the award.

In total, Pifer issued 69 impaired driving citations and 963 speeding citations, the department said, winning him the award.

According to the sheriff's office, the goal of HEAT is to combat crashes, injuries and fatalities caused by impaired driving and speeding, to increase seatbelt use and to education the public on the dangers of driving under the influence.
