Cartersville City Schools Will Delay Opening By Week And A Half
The postponement will allow teachers and staff extra time to prepare for "an unpredictable school year."
CARTERSVILLE, GA — The details are still being worked out, but one thing is certain — Cartersville City Schools will delay opening to students for a week and a half.
“The primary reason for the delayed start date is to give teachers, who are contracted to return to work on July 29, an opportunity to prepare for the possibility of an unpredictable school year,” school system officials said in a statement released Tuesday morning to social media.
According to the statement, specifics will be announced later this week.

“We want our children back in our school buildings as soon as possible and look forward to doing so in a carefully considered way, which will set us up for the best school year yet,” Superintendent Marc Feuerbach said in the statement.
Tuesday’s announcement follows a Monday-night school board meeting in which Feuerbach said he would recommend delaying the opening of school, according to WBHF Community Radio.
