  1. Cartersville native R.B. Clyburn, a former Georgia Tech footballer, came up short at the U.S. Amateur Qualifier tying for 26th place. Fellow Tech golfer Bartley Forrester qualified to play in his the U.S. Amateur championship after winning the qualifier. (Georgia Tech)
  2. Eggs Up Grill, the fast-growing restaurant franchise serving breakfast, lunch, and catering concepts, is expanding again. Franchise owners Any and Penny Wright say three locations will be opening in the metro Atlanta area by the end of the year and said a target market for future growth was in Cartersville.
