Cartersville Hit-And-Run Suspect Racks Up 12 Charges: Police

Police say he hit a stopped car head on and sped off, and that he later admitted to drinking.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Police are accusing a Cartersville man of a hit-and-run after a Saturday, Nov. 23 crash. Marc Germundsen is accused of the hit-and-run at N. Tennessee Street at E. Felton Road, according to a Cartersville police report.

Around 11:30 p.m., police were notified of the hit and run and there was a be on the look out (BOLO) issued for a white Chevy Silverado driving erratically, the report says.

The pick up, driven by Germundsen was speeding and passing cars on Tennessee Street and turned onto East Felton Road where it hit a Jeep, that was stopped at a red light, the report says. The Jeep's driver said the pick up hit her head on, backed up, and drove around her in the wrong lane.

The pick up then drove off on Felton Road, police say.

One witness said he followed Germundsen and that he had the whole incident on his personal dash cam.

Bartow deputies later found Germundsen and pulled him over. He admitted having been drinking, the report says, and he was taken to the Bartow County Jail on $8,790 bond.

In all, Germundsen faces 12 counts, all misdemeanors except where stated otherwise:

  • hit and run, duty of driver to stop or return to the scene of an accident
  • failure to maintain lane (two counts)
  • possession of a schedule II controlled substance (felony)
  • fleeing or attempting to elude police
  • seat belt violation
  • open container violation
  • following too closely
  • driving on the wrong side of the road
  • reckless driving
  • too fast for conditions
  • DUI
