Cartersville Teacher Charged With Improperly Engaging With Student

The Cartersville High School teacher is facing allegations he was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Cartersville High School teacher is facing charges after being accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student, Cartersville Police said Wednesday.

Police said on March 14 they received a report of the suspected relationship between John Paul Snead and a student.

That same day, Cartersville City Schools was alerted to "potentially inappropriate communication" between a teacher and a student, school officials said in a statement to Patch. The school district did not identify the teacher.

"School officials acted immediately and in accordance with the appropriate situational protocols. The teacher is no longer employed at Cartersville City Schools," school officials said in the statement.

Specific details relating to the alleged improper relationship are unknown.

Snead was arrested Tuesday and was charged on suspicion of sexual assault by teacher/principal/assistant principal/other administrator engaged in sexual contact wit and sexual battery, police said.

Snead was taken to the Bartow County Jail, police said. Jail records showed Snead remained incarcerated Wednesday.
