Chattahoochee Tech Students Inducted Into National Technical Honor Society

From Chattahoochee Tech: Fourteen Chattahoochee Technical College students were inducted into the college’s chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a ceremony held Friday, April 28, on the Marietta Campus.

The spring semester inductees were: Kaitlin Barrett of Rockmart, Casey Carter of Smyrna, Takeysha Collier of Austell, Jeffrey Dyer of Adairsville, Felisha Moore of Marietta, Emiline Hoskins of Canton, Rebecca Justice of Marietta, Francis Mukanga of Dallas, Christopher Newman of Canton, Johnathan Newman of Canton, Nathaniel Newman of Canton, Brandon Samsury of Acworth and Jessica Warren of Acworth.

The National Technical Honor Society exists to recognize deserving technical students for their talents and abilities. The organization promotes the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, and skill development among America’s future workforce, and rewards scholastic achievement in career and technical education.

“The goal of the society is to recognize deserving students and make others aware of the talents and abilities of the young people who choose technical education as a way of achieving a successful future,” said chapter president Paola Berrios. “The purpose of the honor society is to award scholastic achievement and to help build a more positive image for technical students, programs and schools in the local community and throughout the nation.”

Students selected for induction have a grade point average of 3.65 or higher, have received a nomination from a CTC instructor and have completed at least 12 hours of study at the collegiate-level. Marietta-based instructor Celnisha Dangerfield, who serves as a co-advisor for the NTHS, said “maintaining a 3.65 GPA or above is an achievement and it is worthy of recognition and honor.” Canton-based instructor Kathy Coleman also served as a NTHS advisor.
