Driver Killed After Striking Tree In Bartow County

The 49-year-old woman, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, died on the way to the hospital, the Georgia State Patrol said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash reported Saturday afternoon in Bartow County.

Troopers were dispatched around 2:18 p.m. to the collision with an entrapment on Bells Ferry Road NE, which is located between Ga. 20 and Stamp Creek Road near White.

An initial report indicates a Kia Sorento was traveling on the roadway when it crossed the center lines, veered off the roadway and struck a tree, the Georgia State Patrol said. The driver, identified as 49-year-old Lille Verhine of White, had to be extricated by Bartow County fire and EMS personnel.

Verhine was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, but died while en route to the Atlanta facility, GSP added.

The state agency notes the accident report is not complete.
