Here are the top five stories in Cartersville today:

  1. Little League baseball players across the region are gearing up in their respective district tournaments to see who will make it to the state matchup. The state little league tournament is set to take place here in Cartersville on Jul. 16. The winner of states will then head to the region tournament in Warner Robins on Aug. 4, with the Little League World Series taking place in Williamsport, VA on Aug. 17. (Valley Times-News)
  2. Cricketer Chris Gayle, also known as 'Universe Boss,' inaugurated one of the six fields in Cartersville's Paramveers Cricket Complex on Jun. 13. Gayle stated he is "really excited at the prospect of this facility" because "it can become one of the best cricket facilities, not only in the USA, but in the entire world." The Universe Boss added he is "very happy to be part of the Paramveer family and I extend all my support to them and for the growth of cricket in the United States." (Cricket World)

  4. There's just one week until Cartersville's Fourth of July festivities! The parade begins Monday, Jul. 4 at 9 a.m., starting from the Tabernacle Baptist Church parking lot. Celebrations continue from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Dellinger Park, with live music, arts and crafts, and (of course) a brilliant fireworks show to end the evening. (City of Cartersville)
