GDOT To Host Job Fair In Cartersville

GDOT is seeking to hire entry-level maintenance professionals at its job fair set for Tuesday, Nov. 6.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Georgia Department of Transportation’s Northwest Georgia Office will host a job fair on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in Cartersville.

The job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Georgia DOT District 6 office at 500 Joe Frank Harris Parkway. GDOT officials plan to hire entry-level maintenance professionals. All applicants must be at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or a GED, and have a valid Class C driver’s license.

The District 6 Office serves 17 counties in Northwest Georgia, said Grant Waldrop, district engineer with District 6 Office. It also maintains five interstates and many state routes motorists rely on for their daily commuting patterns.

GDOT pays a starting rate of $9.50 an hour with optional healthcare benefits, said Terry Lee, a regional recruiter with the agency's Human Resources Office. New employees will also receive $1,500 for having or obtaining a Class A or Class B CDL, and $375 annually for obtaining a certification to handle hazmat or a tanker.

Applicants are encouraged to wear business casual attire and bring several copies of their resumes. Contingent job offers will be presented to the most qualified applicants the same day. New hires must obtain a Georgia Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment.
