Highway 20 Construction in Cartersville To Start Soon

The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to relocate a portion of Georgia Highway 20, then widen the portion leading to Interstate 75.

Construction work could soon begin on the widening State Highway 20 in Cartersville and Bartow County. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation has just awarded a contract to C.W. Matthews Contracting Company of Marietta, valued at close to $16 million, for the project along 2.15 miles of roadway, according to a press release.

It will relocate a portion of Highway 20 from Highway 61 at the existing Peeples Valley Road intersection on a new location to the existing Highway 20 near Walmart, then widening the existing Highway 20 from this location to Interstate 75 in Bartow County.

The widening and relocation project on Highway 20 is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2016, at a construction cost of $15,733,304.
