🌱 Cartersville Man Arrested On Drug Charges + 4th Of July Parade

Here are the top five stories in Cartersville today:
- A Cartersville man was arrested on drug charges during the weekend, along with a Rome man. The two arrests were reportedly separate incidents. Kenneth Zachary Whaley, 40, was arrested during a traffic stop on Turner McCall Boulevard after a K-9 unit alerted officers to drugs. Royce Edward Brooks, 67, was arrested for possessing meth and drug-related objects. They are both being held at the Floyd County Jail. (Northwest Georgia News)

- Bartow County's Sheriff Clark Milsap has joined other Georgia county sheriffs in releasing a joint statement regarding Stacey Abrams. According to the statement, the gubernatorial candidate is advancing the Defund the Police movement while being soft on crime. The joint statement largely reads like a campaign endorsement for Governor Kemp. (Coosa Valley News)
- Bartow County residents participated in the Friends of Resaca Battlefield's Civil War Relic Identification Day. The event occurred on Saturday morning with about seventy-five guests in attendance. The event had artillery projectiles, Minnie ballas, swords, historical bullets, and more on display. The Friends of Resaca reportedly plans to make the event an annual affair. - The 2022 Fourth of July Parade will be at Dellinger Park on Monday. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. The post-parade celebration will start at 3:00 p.m. and conclude with a stunning fireworks display around 10:00 p.m. See the parade map on the City's website. (City of Cartersville)
