ICYMI: Man Accused Of Molesting Daughter Posts $75K Bond

According to prosecutors, the investigation started when his daughter found what looked like a recording device in the bathroom.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Cartersville man accused of molesting his own daughter has posted bail, according to jail records. John Golden, 36, was released from the Bartow County Jail on Feb. 5 after posting $75,000 bond.

He faces eight felony charges: three counts of child molestation, one count of aggravated child molestation and four counts of computer child pornography.

The Daily Tribune News reports Assistant District Attorney Jana W. Allen as saying the case began in 2018 when Golden's 11-year-old daughter was visiting him.

Golden suggested to his daughter that she take a shower, according to the Daily Tribune report. When she saw what appeared to be a recording device wrapped in a towel she texted her mother, who is divorced from Golden, the report says.

Her mother called authorities who opened an investigation into Golden, the report says. The daughter said Golden had molested her when she was 6 or 7, prompting investigators to seize Golden's phone. Jail records say the molestation happened on Nov. 13, 2011.

“Once they did, they located at least 44 images of what appears to be child pornography,” Allen said, according to the Daily Tribune. “So far, they’ve taken four warrants out for the images that were there.”

Golden was arrested on Dec. 27.

Under his bond conditions, Golden can't have any contact with minors, including the 11-year-old and a 7-year-old daughter from another marriage, and can't leave Bartow County, the report says.
