Man Jailed For Wielding Crowbar, Trying To Kick In Door: Police

A Bartow man who told police he was only charging his phone on the porch was jailed Saturday for trying to kick in the house's front door.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A man claiming he was only charging his phone on the porch is in the Bartow County jail Tuesday after police say he raised a crowbar at the complainant and tried to kick in the front door.

According to the incident report, Cartersville police were called Saturday night to a residence on Forrest Avenue in reference to someone “attempting to kick the front door in.” When they arrived, they found Jesse Tyler Sanderson, 37, on the front porch.

Sanderson told authorities he had only been charging his phone when the complainant came outside, told him to leave and then charged at him with a butcher knife. Preparing to defend himself, Sanderson said he raised his crowbar. The resident then slammed the door shut, and Sanderson said he kicked the door in retaliation.

The resident who called police told basically the same story, minus the butcher knife, according to the incident report. He also told police he wanted to press charges.
