Man Threatens To Set People On Fire At Lake Allatoona: Sheriff

Eric Shawn Stack was charged with felony terroristic threats and cruelty to children after the Wednesday morning incident.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Woodstock man who authorities said threatened to set people on fire at a Lake Allatoona campsite was arrested Wednesday morning.

Eric Shawn Stack, 43, was charged with several counts of felony terroristic threats and cruelty to children after the incident, which took place at Gatewood Park on Bartow Beach Road, authorities said. The incident was first reported by WBHF Community Radio.

According to what his girlfriend told Bartow County sheriff’s deputies, Stack was intoxicated and upset because “everyone ate all the hot dogs and did not let him have any.”

Stack’s girlfriend said she responded by taking her three children away from their campsite to a spot on Lake Allatoona about 50 yards away.

She said she then heard screaming from the campsite.

When she returned, according to the Bartow County sheriff’s report, she saw Stack tell three teenagers he would tie up them and his girlfriend with a drop cord and burn them to death. The teens confirmed the story to the deputy, the report stated.

According to the report, Stack also poured mouthwash on everything and threatened to burn it.

Stack was being held in the Bartow County Detention Center as of Friday morning.
