Motorcycle Explosion Sets Bartow Garage, House Ablaze: Fire Chief

"Something exploded" on my motorcycle, the caller told Bartow County dispatchers. That explosion led to extensive damage at an Acworth home.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — “Something exploded” on a motorcycle, according to a 911 caller, leading to a house and garage fire early Monday morning in the Bartow County portion of Acworth.

According to Bartow County Fire Chief Dwayne Jamison, the caller told dispatchers at about 2 a.m. that the explosion set his bike on fire inside the garage at a home at 315 Arapaho Dr. The blaze eventually spread to the house itself, where it caused extensive damage, and to a disabled vehicle parked in the driveway.

Although the fire appears to have started near the motorcycle, its exact cause is still under investigation, Jamison said. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
