Gov. Brian Kemp has 10 days to set the election date, and whoever wins may quickly turn around to run again in the May 19 primaries and November general election.
   

• Black Bartow Events to Host 5th Annual Black History Parade in Downtown Cartersville (coosavalleynews.com) — A major Black History Parade is coming to downtown Cartersville on Saturday, February 28, 2026, starting 1:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church and looping through key city streets. After the parade, residents can enjoy live music, food, and a Black Business Showcase at Friendship Plaza from 3–6 p.m., highlighting local vendors and community resources.
   

• Athletes Beyond Bartow: Lawrence sets franchise record as Jags win AFC South (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville High School alumni shined this week, led by Trevor Lawrence setting a Jacksonville Jaguars single-season touchdown record while guiding his team into the NFL playoffs. Several other former Cartersville and Bartow County standouts contributed in college football, basketball, and even international youth bass fishing, underscoring how many local athletes are making noise well beyond Bartow County.
