Police: Kmart Bomb Threat a Hoax

The store in Cartersville was evacuated for about an hour while police investigated.

say a bomb threat that led the evacuation of was a ruse.

Store management decided on the evacuation following the threat about 10:30 a.m. It lasted about an hour.

Authorities found no bomb or other device during the investigation.

"It was a hoax," Lt. Mark Camp said in an email, adding the store received the threat via a phone call.

Management and employees, who had gathered outside in the shade near the old , reopened the store about 11:30 a.m.

A couple weeks ago, authorties determined a bomb threat at nearby was hoax. Camp said earlier the in a restroom at that store.

In May, two morning calls closed the for five hours as authorities searched with powder-sniffing dogs.
