Police Recover Body From Allatoona Lake

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — The body of a man was recovered from Allatoona Lake Saturday afternoon in Bartow County, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division said.

Game wardens were called late in the afternoon about the body found in the water on Allatoona Lake near the Bethany Bridge area of Red Top Mountain Road, said spokesperson Mark McKinnon.

Those wardens arrived, located and recovered the body from the water. McKinnon said it appears the body "may have been there for some time."

The body was turned over to Bartow County authorities. Coroner Joel Guyton said an autopsy will have to be performed to determine a cause and manner of death as well as identification on the body.
